Immediate Care Medical Walk-In of Toms River is now offering coronavirus antibody tests through Quest Diagnostics. According to Quest, an antibody test may suggest protective immunity after recent exposure to COVID-19.
The antibody test is a blood test that will be sent to a lab to be analyzed for coronavirus antibodies. If patients are confirmed to have these antibodies, they were likely exposed to COVID-19 previously and now may be immune. Patients interested in receiving an antibody test should be symptom-free, and results are available online in 3-5 days.
“Thousands of people in our community have likely contracted COVID-19 and exhibited very mild symptoms or no symptoms at all. This new antibody test will let our patients know if they have been exposed to COVID-19 which may suggest they are immune. We are starting in our Toms River location and will expand antibody testing to our other centers in the coming days. The more people that can be tested, the sooner we can open the country back up and return to our normal lives,” Immediate Care CEO Sal Cannizzaro said.
Immediate Care was one of the first medical companies in New Jersey to offer COVID-19 nasal swab testing for symptomatic patients at the very onset of the coronavirus pandemic. Nasal swab testing is still available for patients with COVID-19 symptoms in addition to the new antibody test. To schedule either test, patients can book an appointment online through Immediate Care’s website, www.immcare.com. Immediate Care accepts all major insurance plans and self-pay. For additional information, patients can also call 1-855-925-5467 Ext: 0.
Employers looking to have their employees tested for COVID-19 antibodies or the nasal swab test should email William Schuler at wschuler@immcare.com or call 908-216-0784.
